Gmail and Yahoo Email Compliance Updates

What’s Happening

To ensure a safer and more secure experience, email service providers like Gmail and Yahoo will be implementing new Sender Policy Framework (SPF) and Domain-based Message Authentication Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) requirements to safeguard their customers. Changes to authentication requirements for Gmail are expected in February 2024; changes for Yahoo are expected in early 2024.

What Are SPF and DMARC?

These are authentication methods that, together with DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM), prevent spammers, phishers and other unauthorized parties from sending emails on behalf of a website address (domain) that they do not own. In simple terms, these email providers are trying to prevent the amount of spam from hitting consumers’ inboxes.

What Action Is Required on Your Part?

SaaS Clients

As a TEAM Software SaaS (software-as-a-service) client, all emails you send via our solutions are currently going through our domain - myteamsoftware.net. To ensure we are fully compliant with Google and Yahoo’s new requirements and to help keep your emails from landing in your customer’s spam folder, we’ve made the necessary changes to our SPF, DKIM and DMARC. What do I need to do? Because TEAM products can be sent on your behalf (from email containing your domain : Someone@yourdomain.com). To ensure successful delivery of emails to Google and Yahoo, you will need to alert and involve your internal email administrator as soon as possible that these changes are needed to ensure email delivery. Ensure you have added our SPF record in your existing mail SPF (How to Set up an SPF Record) and ensure your domain has DMARC and DKIM.

Completing these steps will show email providers that your emails are safe and legitimate, increasing the likelihood of delivery to your customers.
