What is a tour?

A tour in Timegate Web refers to a collection of locations that must be visited during a given window of time within a duty. These are particularly relevant for the Security industry. Tours must be performed at specific points in time. These can be used for proof of presence and capturing information as employees progress through their duty. An employees presence at certain points (locations) on the duty can be proven using either NFC (RFID) or QR technologies. This makes a tour useful for ensuring safety of lone workers as they travel between the various locations. The order of locations within a tour can either be predefined or randomised depending on business need. As an employee progresses through their tour, they may be required to provide information, completing forms, adding notes and providing photographic evidence as needed e.g. if a door is forced, or a window broken, details may be recorded in note form with a supporting photograph. This is then accessible through the service desk. From here decisions can be made about next steps such as calling maintenance to fix the problem, and informing the client with the necessary evidence. Tours are created at a Site level within Timegate Web.
